Welcome to our December newsletter! This month, we are excited to focus on facelifts, a powerful procedure that restores facial structure, lifts sagging areas, and adds volume where needed. Last month, we explored phenol croton oil peels, which are excellent for rejuvenating the skin and reversing sun damage—the “canvas” of the face. These two techniques—addressing the skin’s surface and the underlying structure—work beautifully together, and I often combine them for optimal results.

 

I recently returned from the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons conference in Montreal, where I presented a case involving a phenol peel followed by a facelift. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and many colleagues have asked me to host another course for plastic surgeons on phenol peels next year, similar to the one we ran in Vancouver this fall.

 

As we delve into facelifts this month, I want to address some common questions. Typically, a facelift lasts about 10 to 15 years, after which some patients may consider a follow-up procedure to maintain their rejuvenated appearance. It’s crucial to achieve a natural look; an overly tight or “pulled” appearance often results from poor technique or unnecessary procedures. Patients can expect about three to five days of downtime post-surgery, with a return to social activities in about a week to ten days. 

 

I’m also thrilled to share that I will be traveling to San Francisco to learn some new techniques from renowned facelift surgeon Dr. Tim Marten and to attend the Buck Institute on Aging’s Roundtable for Longevity Clinics. I hope to bring back valuable insights and tools to enhance our practice.
